Have you ever thought about the last time you were truly inspired?

When this question was posed to me recently my immediate thought was…I’m not sure of the last time I was truly inspired.

What guidelines were there to being truly inspired?  Was it someone who’d inspired me or how I’d inspired myself?

Adding the word “truly” also seemed to add an extra spin.  And so, the quest began to seek out the last time I was truly inspired.

I began by reflecting on all I’d achieved over the past eighteen months since the pandemic had hit us.  The achievements had come with their fair share of struggles, challenges and obstacles. As I peeled back each struggle, challenge and obstacle I wrote down the lessons I’d learnt along the way.  I noticed a pattern emerged.

I had gone from being inspired by others to truly inspiring myself; which then allowed me to joyfully and easily complete the sentence.

The last time I was truly inspired was today and every morning for the past 88 days.  You see I have been participating in a practice known as the “100-days practice” which is part of a Mastermind that I am currently involved in, being led by Sonia Bavistock of Scribe and Social.  The practice has me focused on a declaration I made to myself at the beginning of the practice to who I wanted to be as a woman at the end of the 100 Days.

I declared that “I am the woman who holds space for six-plus amazing women per week consistently with absolute joy and ease.”

I have learnt that I am truly inspired every day by my commitment to fulfil this declaration because through this practice I have created a deep trust within myself, I have discovered what I value most and I have come to realise what it means to me to show up every day.

True inspiration comes in many forms and when you give yourself the time and permission to reflect I have found for me there is no better source than one’s self.

I encourage you to have a go and complete this sentence - “The last time I was truly inspired…..”
